Downloading data to be stored on your phone

Sablono's mobile application is capable of working offline (e.g. while being in the basement). All you need to do is download the parts of your project that you want to have available on your phone while still being connected to the internet. You will be able to do so through the Work Breakdown Structure page:

  • A grey icon indicates that this part of the project has not been downloaded and is therefore not available when working offline.
  • A green icon on the other hand indicates that this part was downloaded and you will be able to navigate through all related Deliverables, Activities and Notes even when being offline.

Please keep in mind that the initial download of a part of your project can take a while. This is mostly dependent on how many photos are already linked to it. All those will be downloaded and stored on your phone.

Once you decide that a part of your project should be available offline, the application will automatically check for new updates in that area whenever connected to the internet and will update the data stored locally on your phone whenever needed. Hence, you should open your application regularly while being connected to the internet to make sure that the copy stored on your phone is up to date with the latest state of the Sablono server. Whenever your device is communicating with the server you will see a little synchronisation banner at the bottom of the application.

Working Offline

Once you have downloaded a part of your project you will be able to access it to report progress, answer QA checklists and file Notes incl. photos even while being offline. Your application will indicate whenever it does not have sufficient connection to the Sablono server by showing a "working offline" banner (shown at the bottom of the screen).

Whenever you try to access data that is not available offline while not being connected to the internet, you will see an error indicating that you need to download it first when connected to the internet.

Uploading data to the Sablono server

The mobile application will regularly check (every 20 seconds) if updates have been stored on the device and upload those to the Sablono sever automatically whenever needed. Again, whenever your device is communicating with the server you will see the synchronisation banner (shown at the bottom of the screen).

If you fill QA checklists while being offline the application will not ask for your password to sign them. Instead, it will ask for a single password once connected to the internet again, which will then sign all QA checklists while being uploaded.

Please keep in mind that depending on how many Notes (incl. photos) you created while working offline and the quality of your connection, the upload to the Sablono server may take a little while.

If you wish to delete data on your phone's memory you can simply click on the green clouds which are currently holding information until they turn back to a grey colour again.

Troubleshooting

My phone is constantly synchronizing. What do I do?

If the synchronisation banner does not disappear please check first if you are downloading data from the server or uploading information to it.

If you are downloading, try evaluating the size of the project part that you are trying to download, or how many photos are linked to it. Depending on the size of the project part and the quality of your current connection, the download could take a while. Please keep the application up and running while it is downloading because closing the app will stop and cancel that process. The easiest way to avoid the app from stopping is changing the battery-saving settings of your device to keep it running until the download is finished.

Now, if you are uploading, you can think about how many Notes incl. photos you reported while being offline. Depending on the number of photos and the quality of your current connection the upload may take a while. Therefore, please keep the app open until the banner disappears.

If the synchronisation banner does not go away at all even after having waited an appropriate amount of time, feel free to contact our support at support@sablono.com or through our live chat, both located on the top right section of the page while navigating the Sablono platform. We can then help you in exporting the local database of your phone and checking what's wrong.

My phone does not display the correct data - What do I do?

If your phone does not display the data as expected you can try:

1) If you are online - Feel free to refresh the data by e.g. refreshing the list view through the menu (see image below - second option from the top), or in some cases by navigating out of the Deliverable / Activity that you are currently looking at and back into it right afterwards.

2) If you are offline - The data stored on your device may not be up to date since you did not open the application recently while being online. If that is the case, you need to reconnect to the internet and open the application afterwards. It will then automatically download the newest state which should lead to refreshing the data on your device.

3) If you cannot get the data you would expect to be displayed feel free to contact our support. We can help you by exporting the local database of your phone to check what's wrong (see image below).

I can not see my updates on app.sablono.com - What do I do?

If you did updates using your mobile app and can not find them later on app.sablono.com most likely they have not been uploaded yet. In that case, simply open the mobile app again while being connected to the internet. After a couple of seconds (20 max) you should see the synchronisation indicator and you may be prompted to sign QAs with your password. Afterwards, your updates will also appear on app.sablono.com.

If not, feel free to contact our support. We can help you by exporting the local database of your phone to check what's wrong.
